24 Weeks

Baby K is the size of a 1/2 gallon of milk and weighs about 1 1/4 lbs. My belly is getting big enough that people stare at it in the mall and a few have asked my due date. Only 16 weeks left til we get to meet our little guy!!!

Owning a house = Endless projects

My mom has been here for a week helping me with all things baby AND all the house projects that I haven't had the time or motivation to get done. It has been a lot of fun, a little exhausting, and we got so many projects done! We have paint in our hair that won't come out and until our afternoon mani/pedis today our nails were covered in grossness. We painted our staircase, organized the entire basement, caught up on laundry, cleaned the yard, took out the bathroom sliding shower doors and replaced with a shower curtain, reorganized all of the kitchen cupboards and closets, painted the nursery furniture, set up all the things for Baby K, patched random wall holes, and set up our new basement guest room/office/work out room. We worked non stop and I am so happy with all the things we got done. Like usual I forgot to take before pictures, but here are some afters.

Up WAYYYY too late!!!

It is past midnight and I am exhausted but can't sleep. It's another night that Dan has to work through which is hard to get used to. I'm not sure I'm ready for this residency thing in a year (especially with Baby K on the way). So, what to do in the middle of the night but research breast pumps??? I couldn't think of anything else so that is just what I have been doing. Although I know the technology of pumps these days by far surpasses my mom's scary stories, I am not looking forward to using one full time when I return to school...What a LOT of work they seem to be!!!

On another somewhat related note, I got a pedicure today. It wasn't the relaxing pedicure I had hoped for, but it makes for good stories. The woman doing my toes was very friendly and nice (seemingly) but once she found out I am expecting she would not lay off the stressful questions. Seriously, for an hour I was lectured on the importance of fruit and vegetables (and not too many carbs- they "turn into" sugar), how I really need to have a birth plan already (before taking a class), why I need to bank cord blood, whether I have life insurance set up, how good mothers breastfeed for x number of months, etc. Since when does being pregnant invite/attract nosy people who think they can share their opinion about personal matters??? From the looks of it I have 4+ more months of this madness :) Please share stories for my upcoming book "What NOT to Say to a Preggo"

We're having a BOY!

So, you all were WAY wrong on that poll- 80% said GIRL! You really threw me off :) We had an ultrasound on my birthday a few weeks ago and baby was breach and sitting on his legs. It was difficult to tell for sure, but we were told we'd be having a boy. Thankfully, the ultrasound with my OB was today so I only had to wait a few weeks for confirmation. Sure enough today baby had flipped and we got a good view. Now there is no doubt now that this little one is all BOY! Both of us are thrilled (though we would have been either way, of course). Having two younger sisters I know all about little girls but this boy stuff is all new. I am so so so excited, though!

I am now 21 weeks and baby was measuring right on the mark. I have an appointment with my OB tomorrow to see how I'm progressing and get a laundry list of new questions answered. I am definitely getting a noticeable bump and had my first stranger ask when my due date is (still a little risky if you ask me). I'm over half way and getting really excited to meet this little guy.

On another note: Dan and I had agreed on two girl names, but we have no clue about boy names. So, any suggestions???

Thumbs up!

Not sure what sign this is

Sucking on his fingers

Yawn. If he's anything like me he bores easily.
