Pink and Blue on the mind
So, in effort to ward off evening/morning/all day sickness I am trying to focus on fun stuff- but I can't handle not knowing whether we're having a boy or girl. Ugh! I can't believe some people opt not to find out. I hate surprises! So, I have tried all the crazy old-wives tales to try to guess- but we want your opinion, too. Vote what you think just to the right. Hope you are all having a wonderful week. Oh, and if you're stopping by be sure to leave some love so I know you've been here and so I stay motivated to update this thingy...

This may be more fun with kiddos...
Well, I spent the morning dying Easter eggs, which I love and Dan thinks is "cute" so he watches. My mom definitely instilled in me a love for all things festive and I haven't missed a year of coloring my own easter eggs. This year I bought the "marbling" kit which apparently is just regular dye that you add vegetable oil to. I highly recommend it- it was very Martha. Here's some pictures of the fun:

On another note, Dan and I are still trying to figure out how to document my belly growth (which unfortunately hasn't really started yet.) We tried out a silhouette in front of the kitchen window but still aren't sure:

Lastly, I am keeping a pregnancy journal and there is a page to write guesses about boy or girl. It's a little early to be thinking about it, but if you have a guess let me know! (Here are the shirts the puppies wore to tell Dan's mom our good news.)

Bored in Class
The combination of being 6 weeks from summer after a grueling first year and a wandering mind excited about a baby to be, I am very unmotivated and getting really bored at school. So, I decided what better time to update the blog? I met our OB/GYN yesterday during my first "real" appointment and was so impressed by him (and the nurses/lab techs/etc). It was a really good day- and things are finally feeling a bit more real. It's really weird that this "blob" can take over my body and give me nausea, cravings, and emotions and I don't have a cute bump to show for it.
Things I have cried about (and I'm not a big crier)
- Megan leaving American Idol last week (and I didn't even like her)
- The morning radio show talking about the opening pitch of the Cardinal's game tonight (this was supposed to be funny)
- While reading the children's touch and feel Easter Bunny book my mom sent to Dan and I
- In the drive through at Starbuck's (getting a non caffeinated smoothie)
Anyway, moral of the story is that Dan has been a real trooper dealing with a crazy preggo wife.

There's a Bun in the Oven

Yes, it's true. WE ARE EXPECTING A BABY and could not be more thrilled! The last few weeks since we found out have flown by- a whirlwind of excitement, joy, relief, nausea, and a little fear. We have been wanting to be at this stage for about a year now, so the positive test could not have come sooner. We went to our first appointment yesterday to get pictures of our Baby K, and it was soooooo amazing. I have never felt anything like it- seeing a blob (which Dan and I are still disagreeing as to which side the head is on) with a heart beat pumping out of its chest. I am about 8 weeks along, and everything that will be inside this little one is already there (though not fully developed). Dan is convinced it can hear us already (even with his medical training) so we have already been talking to baby and introducing ourselves. We have had a blast telling our families and more recently our friends about our new life change. In order to document these exciting times, the day we found out went out to buy a video camera. We videotaped our families reactions and it is my new favorite movie! We are thrilled to share this season with quite a line up of new babies expected to arrive between June and November this year. Here in St. Louis a good friend Allison is about 4 months ahead of me and it is such a blessing to have a friend to ask advice of, share excitement with, and decorate and shop for baby with. I am counting down to the end of the first trimester when I hope to get some relief from all-day sickness and nausea so I can maybe start this "glowing" I hear about but haven't experienced... Anyway, thanks for reading and sharing our good news! Check back soon to see our "Telling the world about Baby K" video...

Sorry, this is a picture of a picture (so its backwards). Baby K is about the size of a kidney bean. We got to see the heart beat coming off the top of the blob. We're pretty sure baby's head is down and to the left in this pic...
